Zhang Chunqin (China) - 27.04.2024

The Institute of Oriental Studies of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and the City of Poznań would like to invite you to an open lecture by the eminent Chinese calligrapher Zhang Chunqin, entitled "Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy". The lecture will take place on 27 April at 11:00 at the Exposition and Education Pavilion of the Botanical Garden (entrance through the main gate from ul. Dąbrowskiego and through the door at the parking lot for visitors). The lecture will be translated in real time from Chinese into Polish.

Zhang Chunqin holds the position of Assistant Professor at the Department of Tourism, History, and Culture at the Jiangxi Science and Technology Normal University, where she conducts research and education activities concerning the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Jiangxi Province, the development of related tourism, and the promotion of the art of Chinese calligraphy. Her major publications include the article "On the educational value of tourism resources of ancient architecture in Wuyuan", published in the academic journal Laoqu Jianshe. She also pursues her self-appointed mission of a promoter of regional traditions as a member of the Jiangxi Provincial Culture and Tourism Research Association.

Zhang is a highly renowned expert and artist dealing with calligraphy. The level of craftsmanship she has achieved in this art is evidenced by her numerous awards and distinctions in specialised competitions or being included on the list of the "One Hundred Best Calligraphy Artists in China" (2021). She also deals with educating the next generation of talented calligraphers - she works as a Chinese calligraphy instructor for Jiangxi Province's cultural heritage preservation teams as well as a national calligraphy competence examiner. The gained recognition has earned her membership in the Jiangxi Province Calligraphy Artists Association and the Nanchang City Calligraphy Artists Association.
