Employees of international IT company SOFTSWISS grew moustaches and beards to raise awareness of men's health

Throughout the month of November, men all over the world join the Movember Foundation's charity action. In dozens of countries, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Spain, Singapore, Switzerland and this year also in Poland, represented by employees of the international IT company SOFTSWISS, men give up their razors for a month and grow moustaches and beards. In this way, they draw attention to the problem of oncology, as well as other male diseases.

SOFTSWISS has united the male part of the team around the topic of men's health. We are talking about specialists from the Polish development centres in Poznań and Warsaw, as well as from other countries. Throughout November, the theme of the importance of taking care of men's health resonated in the offices and communications of the global software manufacturer. In particular, it is about the fight against prostate cancer, which is considered one of the most common types of male cancer. Joining the global Movember movement, male employees took part in the moustache and beard growing challenge and the MOVEmber Step challenge. The final results of the SOFTSWISS men's active lifestyle have not yet been summarised, but it is already known that collectively the guys walked and ran more than 12,000 kilometres. This is a distance equivalent to 2.2 transatlantic flights from New York to London.

In addition, all participants in the global campaign were able to ask questions of a urologist and an andrologist, as well as receive important recommendations for taking care of their male health. The company's management supported the will among its employees to draw attention to the important topic - a healthy breakfast was organised for children in their offices, and the winners of the challenge received boxes of sports gifts for the steps they took. Those who have consciously grown their beards throughout the month will also be recognised - winners will be rewarded with a visit to the barber.
The global Movember campaign has been taking place around the world since 2003. It started as a small initiative by two activists in Australia who suggested growing a moustache and beard and donating to charity to fund men's health projects. It turns out that more than 6.5 million people worldwide have already supported the fund in 2020, and this number is only growing every year. Movember has a global goal of reducing premature male mortality by 25% by 2030.

This is not the first global health campaign supported at the Poznan and Warsaw development centre of international IT company SOFTSWISS. The developer has offices around the world, but Poland is a priority country for growth and development, and local teams are given special attention. In October this year, SOFTSWISS joined the global breast cancer movement Pink October. SOFTSWISS reimbursed the cost of breast ultrasounds or mammograms to all its female employees, more than 600 people.
